The first crossing keepers house on the Forge Valley Line after leaving Mill Lane Junction was Haygate Lane, seen here in May 2009 looking west.

Haygate Lane Crossing

Haygate Lane was the first crossing after Mill Lane Junction. The track here was double as far as Eastgate, the next crossing, where it singled. After 1924 the down line on the branch from Mill Lane Junction became a siding. The Malton to Pickering main line also crossed Haygate Lane, just 50 yards or so further west.
