Demolition of Fothill Bridge


The tracks were lifted between Seamer and Thornton Dale between 1952 and 1953. The contractors for the demolition of the line were Cohen & Co. of Leeds.

An 0-6-0 saddle tank engine was used, which arrived by road at Pickering before being placed on the line.

The final section between Thornton Dale and Mill Lane Junction was lifted in late 1964.
