Wilton Carr Crossing
The crossing at Cliff Lane was called Wilton Carr. Approached from the Pickering side Wilton Carr preceeded Ebberston Station by just under a mile.
Deggy Bond lived in Wilton Carr gate house from closure of the line. His mother worked the crossing gates when the line was open. Around 2002, he moved into a rest home at Thornton Dale. The house was then rebuilt using the original bricks to a modern design, loosing it's North Eastern Railway character. Until then the building had no mains electricity. The enamel station sign was apparently auctioned off in London.
