West Ayton Crossing
George Wellburn was a porter at Forge Valley station in 1901. It is assumed that he lived at the gate house and it has been called the 'porter's cottage' in the 1901 census.
From the census it can be seen that George married Jane and had two children, Eva Maude and Edith Eleanor.
The 1901 census for "West Ayton Porters Cottage" looked like this:
| Name | Age | Occupation | Parish | Where Born | Relation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| George Taylor Wellburn | 50 | Porter | West Ayton | Hunmanby, Yorkshire | Head |
| Jane Taylor | 52 | ~ | West Ayton | Hunmanby, Yorkshire | Wife |

| Edith Eleanor Wellburn | 12 | ~ | West Ayton | West Ayton Yorkshire | Daughter |
